Week 2- A little about me.....

Well, here I am. This is the face my 20 students see everyday :-)

The Title of a children's book that I absolutely adore is entitled, "Jordan's Hair". What makes this book so special is My oldest son went to a small home daycare from three months until he was three years old. His caretaker at the time gave him that book because my son's name is Jordan and it is about a little boy named Jordan and this little boy is asking why are all of his friends different from him. He also questions different hair color, different skin color, etc..... I love this book because it was the perfect sedge-way to talk to my son about differences and no matter what, we can all live together and be friends no matter what.

Also, I once had a student in my class when I was teaching Kindergarten in 2009 and I had student name Ian. Little Ian had not been in any schooling before he started Kindergarten, so the whole process of him starting school was a complete shock to him. I had to show him how to hold a pencil, how to sit properly in his seat, how to write his name. It was quite a year for the both of us. But when that year was over, Ian had learned so much and he was attached to my hip. His parents were so proud of him and his accomplishments and how much I worked with him. So much so, I named my second son after him ;-)
The thing that fuels my passion fo the early childhood field is just the notion of being able to mold and inspire young kids to develop appropriately in all areas. I want to be THAT teacher they will remember who made a maybe small contribution to their lives.

What a week!

Well, What a week! I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in June of this month, and I am just coming to the realization how hard it is dealing with my disease, being a mother, being a wife, working full time, and now being in school. This is definitely going to be a trying time. I am hoping a praying I can juggle everything. I understand this class is going to be tough, dealing with my health and regular schedule and it has been a difficult process.

I teach VPK at a private school, so I understand the importance of education and the technology and what is expected. I want to make sure I gain the knowledge I need in order to pass it on to my students as well as my two boys, who are 7 and 3. I'm hoping i can learn valuable information that will let me be in position to help others as well as myself.

I am still getting into the swing of things going into week 2 of this class. I thought I was very tech savvy, but creating a publishing a blog is a very new experience. I hope I can catch on pretty quickly and I hope my fellow colleagues are having a successful beginning as well.

First time blogger

Well, I tried one blog site and it was a bust, so when a fellow classmate suggested this one, it was a bit easier and very simple.
